Adult Summer Reading 2026

This year’s Summer Reading theme is Plant a Seed, Read! The theme for our Adult Summer Reading Challenge is Plant Seeds, Build Community!

This year, we’ll be doing a Bingo Challenge! Participants will get the chance to enter raffles for three prizes:

Two tickets to the Somerville Theatre, $50 gift card to Narrative Bookstore Gift Card, or $50 gift card to Michette Bakery

The challenge runs from Sunday, June 14 – Saturday, August 15.

How Do I Get Started?

Starting June 14th, stop by any Somerville Public Library location to pick up a bingo card.

What are the rules?

  1. Pick up your Adult Summer Reading bingo sheet from any of the Somerville Public Library locations starting June 14.
  2. Cross off a square every time you complete a prompt. One book can count for more than one square!
  3. Every time you complete a line (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal), bring your bingo sheet to any SPL library location to claim a raffle ticket. You can enter for one of the following prizes: two tickets to the Somerville Theatre, a $50 gift card to Narrative Bookstore Gift Card, or a $50 gift card to Michette Bakery.
  4. If you cross of every square in your bingo sheet, congrats, you got BLACKOUT BINGO! Bring in your completed sheet to any SPL location and fill out ten raffle tickets for the prize of your choosing. Bingo sheet must be returned by August 15.
  5. All raffle winners will be announced and notified the week of August 16.
