Welcome to the Children’s Department

All branches of the Somerville Public Library offer materials, programs, and services to meet the educational and recreational needs of children from birth through age 12 and the adults who raise, educate, and care for them.

Here you can check out books, music, and movies just for kids, attend storytime or a sing along, join a book discussion group, solve a jigsaw puzzle, play or work on a computer, do your homework, or attend a special event like a puppet show or a craft program!

Keep your eyes open for children’s librarians in the community: you might see us offering storytime at a farmer’s market, or at a SomerStreets (opens in new tab) celebration, or in your school. Teachers: you’re invited to bring your classes in to visit – just call and we’ll arrange it.
