Read or listen to our digital collections on your mobile device using the Libby app.
Download Libby to your device from your device’s App Store. Libby is available for iPhone and iPads from the Apple App Store and for Android devices from the Google Play store.
To download Libby, open the App Store on your device and search for “Libby, by Overdrive.” Click Get to download the app. Although the app is free, you may be asked to enter your App Store ID and password in order to complete the download. Close the App store.
How to Connect Your Library Card to Libby
Open Libby and answer the questions as prompted to link your library card:
- Click Yes to confirm you have a library card.
- Click Search For A Library.
- Enter Somerville Public Library.
- Select Minuteman Library Network.
- Click Enter Library Account Details.
- Enter your library card number, and click Next.
- Enter your PIN, and click Sign in.
- Success! Libby will display a facsimile of your library card. Click Next to close.
Now you are ready to download ebooks and audiobooks to your device!
If you have a specific book or magazine in mind, you can search for it by title, author, or keyword by clicking Search for A Book at the top of the screen. Click Explore to browse the collections.
Use Preferences to refine your search. Among the options, you can specify ebooks or audiobooks, select a language, and restrict your search to available items only. Be sure to click Apply Preferences to save your changes.
Clicking Shelf at the bottom of the screen will display your current loans and holds, while clicking Library will return to you to the homepage.
Once you find a title you want, click the image to display details about the title. Click Borrow, and Borrow again, to check out the title. If the title is not available, you can click Place a Hold to add yourself to the waitlist.
