LOCAL AND CITY JOBS:

Somerville Positive Forces: A community based coalition supported by the City's Health Department that works to reduce substance abuse, as well as the harms associated with such use among Somerville residents with a particular focus on youth.

Mayor's Summer Jobs Program: The Mayor's Summer Jobs Program provides opportunities for City youths to work within the community during the summer months in both the public and private sectors.

Teen Snow Shoveling Program: The Somerville Teen Shoveling program is a paid program for youth to shovel out seniors and disabled residents after a snow storm in Somerville. Pairs are made  for the season.

Teen Empowerment: Teen Empowerment employs youth ages 14-20 to work in year-round youth leadership jobs. To join the list of people interested in working with Teen Empowerment, click here.

Groundwork Somerville Green Team: The Green Team at Groundwork Somerville is a youth employment program focusing on urban agriculture, environmental justice, civic engagement, and job skills.


OTHER RESOURCES

YMCA’s CIT/LIT Job Readiness Program: This program trains youth for future employment in a Somerville Summer Camp Program or other job opportunities.

Job Readiness and Skills Resources: Operation Able’s resource guide for building career skills – things like computer skills and job training.

Job Readiness Online Courses: IBM SkillsBuild provides a few free classes to help prepare you for your next job; they have tips for when English is your second language, skills for helping you move up at work, or even a guide to internships!

Peterson's Career Prep: Has tools for both college and career prep. Try out their scholarship search tool or their school search tool, among other resources!

Teen Hub: A great resource in general, the Teen Hub also keeps a list of job, internship, and volunteering opportunities in the area.
