The Somerville Public Library has three locations The Main Library is located at 79 Highland Avenue, while the West Branch is at 40 College Avenue (Davis Square) and the East Branch is at 115 Broadway. In addition to its extensive collection of books, periodicals, videos, and compact discs, the SPL provides free use of Internet terminals and word processors, as well as Museum Passes for Somerville residents. Patrons of any of the thirty-five Minuteman Library Network libraries are welcome at the Somerville Public Library.

The Central Library will be closed on Sundays this summer beginning on Sunday, June 22nd. Regular Sunday hours (1:00 pm to 5:00 pm) will resume after Labor Day, on September 7th. The Library will also be closed on Saturday, July 5, following Independence Day.

The Central Library is seeking volunteers to teach English classes beginning in early May. We are looking for people who are fluent in English, good listeners, flexible, reliable, and welcoming. Beginning on May 14th there will be Wednesday afternoon classes at 2:00pm (beginning) and 3:15pm (intermediate). Students can come for one or both. Pick up an application at the Reference Desk.
